With Halloween right around the corner, I couldn’t help but decorate! I went all out for my favorite holiday.

It has been a while…

I can’t say I’ve done any new window work recently, which is quite sad. Needless to say, I will resume it shortly. Until then, I have been considering alternative projects that I could possibly work on. From doing a zine to wheatpasting, the options are limitless.

Lucky for me, my college is located right across the river from the ever amazing Philadelphia. Also, luckily for me, my college also brings artists across the river to us! Today’s artist introduced me to the idea of a zine. I can’t help but be in awe of such an idea. I also can’t help wanting to try making one. I think I’ll put it off until after I finish my window project, but making a zine is definitely something I am going to try.

Creating the Perfect Circle

Well, I am finding many road blocks on the way to decorating the lounge. Today, while drawing on one window, I found that I needed to make a giant circle. And, well, that’s a problem since they don’t make compasses in window size. After brainstorming with people on facebook, I decided to try it freehand as there was not a reasonable alternative method. I think it turned out fairly well. Otherwise, the project has mostly consisted of a lot of bubble letters and tedious cutting.

So, sometime after creating the freehand circle, I finally got a reasonable suggestion in regards to how to make the perfect circle. It was to put a thumbtack in the the center, then tie a string to the thumbtack and my pencil. Then, the idea is to hold the pencil at the strings full length and hold the pencil as perpendicular as possible. Trying this for my next circle.

An opportunity to show off.

So, yesterday I went and spoke with this lady who works in the Res Life office, and by the time I left, I was guaranteed all 6 windows in the lounge of my building! So, I’ve been doing some sketches. My theme is “messages.” We’ve got autism speaks, stop world hunger, protect endangered species, preserve nature, stop child abuse, and support our troops.

In the beginning of the year, my roommates and I all bonded through Uno. So as a door decoration, I made a giant Uno card! Last week, some idiot took it!!! I was so sad, it had been up there for almost 8 months… Of course, that meant it was time to make something knew for the door. Well, one evening, a long time ago, we had been watching “The Hangover.” Long story short, we started calling ourselves ‘The Wolfpack,’ thus the wolves.

After my panda was anally raped, I fixed it, but he was never the same. So, it was time for a new window decoration. I made up some sketches, had the room vote, then proceeded to make the winner, the hummingbird.

Ducks of revenge.

Since my RA made me take down my ‘Donnie Darko’ piece, I decided to redecorate and get revenge in the process. So, the fire code (his reason for making me take it down) says that only one third of the wall may be covered. Well, of course I went through the trouble of making my Spring/Duck scene just under the area of one third of the wall. Though, who would actually go through the trouble of trying to figure out if that really is under one third or not?
